A man has been arrested over the alleged supply of illicit drugs after police seized drugs worth $600,000 from two hotel rooms in Sydney's CBD yesterday.
In August 2022, officers from Inner West Police Area Command established Strike Force Weismantle to investigate the commercial supply of prohibited drugs throughout Sydney.
During the course of the investigation, police have seized 4.9 kilograms of 1,4-butanediol, and 252 grams of methylamphetamine.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 52-year-old man in Commonwealth Street, Sydney about 10am yesterday (Wednesday 7 December 2022).
A short time later, officers executed two search warrants at hotels in Wentworth Street and Bond Street, Sydney.
During the search warrants, officers located 500 MDMA tablets, 100g of cocaine, 3.2kg of 1,4-butanediol, 700g of methylamphetamine, more than a 1kg of cannabis, and more than $70,000 cash.
The drugs seized have an estimated potential street value of $600,000.
All items were seized to undergo forensic examination.
The man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with 23 offences, including:
- two counts of supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity,
- six counts of supply prohibited drug >= greater than commercial quantity,
- eight counts of supply prohibited drug >indictable
- three counts of supply prohibited drug small quantity,
- supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis
- two counts of possess prohibited drug, and
- knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime.
The Burwood man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 8 December 2022).
