Man in court over serious assault at Unley, South Australia

A man will appear in court today after a serious assault at Unley last night.

Police and paramedics were called to Thomas Street, Unley about 8pm on Wednesday by reports of an assault. They found the 43-year-old occupant with serious head injuries. He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains in a serious, but stable condition. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Following investigations by Eastern District CIB detectives, a 52-year-old Unley man was arrested and charged with aggravates assault cause serious harm. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Investigations into the assault are continuing. The investigation is in its early stages, but police do not believe this was a random incident. The people involved are known to each other.
