Man Nabbed Driving at Four Times Legal Alcohol Limit

A 42-year-old man has been charged and had his licence disqualified after being caught drink driving in Warrane last night.

An off-duty police officer reportedly became concerned with the manner of driving of a green Ford Territory Sedan on the Tasman Highway.

Sergeant Terry McCulloch said the officer contacted police and helped to coordinate the interception of the vehicle a short time later.

"The man was breath tested and returned a reading of 0.222, which is more than four times the legal limit," he said.

"This driver's behaviour clearly put the safety of others at risk, and we're thankful for the prompt actions of the off-duty officer."

Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving can report it immediately to police on 131 444, or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
