Man Sentenced for Drug Trafficking in Western Australia

A 32-year-old man has today, Friday 20 February 2026, been sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment, after being charged by the Serious and Organised Crime Division for his involvement in a conspiracy to transport 50 kilograms worth of prohibited drugs into Western Australia.

In 2020, the Serious and Organised Crime Division commenced an operation targeting a national drug syndicate trafficking prohibited drugs into Western Australia. In October that year, detectives seized approximately $6 million in cash from a residence in Stirling linked to the investigation.

In November, detectives uncovered the man's plot, which involved using his established criminal network to transport 30 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 10 kilograms of cocaine and 10 kilograms of heroin into Western Australia. The man was subsequently arrested in Queensland by officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Division, with ongoing assistance from Queensland Police, Australian Federal Police and New Zealand Police, who all supported the prosecution.

In April 2022, he was extradited to Western Australia to face the following charges:

• 2 x Conspired to sell or supply a prohibited drug other than Methylamphetamine

• 1 x Conspired to sell or supply Methylamphetamine

• 1 x Laundering Property/Money from Proceeds of Major Offence

On Monday, 16 February 2026, following a jury trial, the 32-year-old man was found guilty of all four charges.

The following quotes can be attributed to Detective Superintendent Rob SCANTLEBURY, Serious and Organised Crime Division.

"The WA Police Force will continue to make Western Australia a hostile environment for organised crime groups that view WA as a profitable market.

"Let this be another message to those who want to do our WA community harm, wherever you are in the world. This sentence demonstrates you will be brought to justice, and you will face the consequences of your actions.

"We will continue to use every avenue available to us, and work closely with our national and international partners, to identify, disrupt and dismantle drug related criminal operations."
