Man wanted on QLD warrants arrested at Mungindi

A man wanted on outstanding warrants for traffic, property and animal cruelty-related offences in QLD was arrested in the state's north overnight.

About 9.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 1 November 2023), officers attached New England Police District, with the assistance of Queensland Police, attended the showground on Mungindi Street, Mungindi, following reports a man wanted by police was sighted.

On arrival, police sighted the man running from the location and commenced a foot pursuit to the local waste management plant where the man jumped into a pit.

A short time later, the 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station and charged with apprehension on warrant issued in another state.

He was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court today (Thursday 2 November 2023).
