Mans Body Found After Yagoona Unit Fire

The body of a man has been found following a unit fire in Sydney's west today.

About 10.30am (16 April 2024), police were called to a unit on Wilkins Street, Yagoona, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command arrived to find the unit alight.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

A man, who is yet to be formally identified, was found deceased in the unit.

Three other people were treated for smoke inhalation by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

A crime scene has been established and police and specialist investigators from Fire and Rescue NSW are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
