MasterChef royalty is set to touch down in Camden, with 2021 winner Justin Narayan confirmed as this year's TASTE Camden guest chef.
Narayan, a first-generation Australian who is inspired by his Fijian and Indian heritage, will bring his culinary flair and signature style to Camden with a series of live cooking demonstrations.
These demonstrations, where Narayan will share his tips, techniques and favourite dishes with the crowd, are scheduled for:
- 12.30pm - Elote (Mexican grilled corn);
- 2pm - Chicken curry tacos with coriander chutney; and
- 3.30pm - Barfi spice caramel slice.
Narayan has years of experience after starting his cooking journey at just 13 years of age, listing his mum as his biggest inspiration and enjoying watching cooking shows with and cooking for his parti (grandmother) and tata (grandfather).
The delicious TASTE Camden event will be held on Sunday 21 September, 12-5pm, at Camden Town Farm, 40 Exeter Street, Camden.
It promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a number of new aspects to look forward to, one of which being take-home alcohol products. Attendees will be able to purchase local and regional beers, ciders and wines from the bar this year and reminisce about the event for weeks following.
Whether you're a fan of seafood, barbeque meats or you like something a little more exotic, this year's event will feature some of the best food trucks and stalls that Camden and wider Sydney have to offer. The event is set to host more than 40 stallholders offering a smorgasbord of culinary creations to enjoy, including:
- Artisan Delish Salami;
- Authentic Turkish Gozleme;
- Baguette Brothers;
- Cholito Empanadas;
- Hotdog House;
- Kielty's Irish Sauces;
- La Gitana Paella Master;
- Lambda Souvla Grill;
- Mr Pig;
- Mrs Wang's Dumplings;
- Spud Sisters; and
- That's Amore Italian Woodfired Pizza.
The main stage arena promises to entertain the audience with live music performances from Carly Mozsny, Ria Brcic, Luke Koteras and Taste of Soul just to name a few.
And the fun doesn't stop there! There will also be a range of kids' activities including face painting, coaster decorating, an inclusive space and a kids' cooking experience where your little chefs can whip up their own culinary delights.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said more than 10,000 people were expected to enjoy the abundance of food, drink, produce and entertainment.
"TASTE Camden is one of our most popular events and it's one of my personal favourites," she said.
"Being able to enjoy some beautiful weather, incredible food, terrific entertainment with friends and family is so special.
"I look forward to welcoming Justin to this year's event and seeing all of you down there!"
