Perth will host a blockbuster AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026 semi-final featuring the Matildas at Perth Stadium tonight following a thrilling quarter-final win.
After their triumph over DPR Korea in a high-stakes quarter-final at Perth Rectangular Stadium last Friday, witnessed by over 16,000 fans, the Matildas have now secured their spot in tonight's semi-final, where they will take on China PR.
A semi-final win tonight will mean the Matildas will head to Sydney for a final showdown against Korea Republic or Japan on Sunday, 21 March, rounding out three weeks of world-class women's sport that has captivated fans across the world.
With 10 matches hosted in Perth from 1-17 March, the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 is the most successful edition in the tournament's history - breaking major milestones, including the all-time attendance record and more than 250,000 tickets sold across the tournament.
Supported by theCook Government through Tourism WA, more than 44,000 fans packed out Perth Stadium for theopeningceremony and match, which featured performances from Audrey Nuna - the voice of Mira from the internationally acclaimedKPopDemon Hunters-creating an unforgettable start to the tournamentand shining a global spotlight on Perth and its world-class facilities.
The record-breaking tournamentalsocoincides with the State Government's new Game On, Girls initiative - designed to empower sporting clubs to create inclusive environments that support teenage girls to stay active and connected. Through the initiative, sporting clubs can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to develop programs that encourage girls to stay engaged in their sport.
Hosting major events continuesto be a key part of the State Government's economic diversification strategy as theybring international attention to the State anddrawvisitors fromfar and wide,strengtheningthe tourism sector by supporting local jobs and businesses.
