Yesterday Council was advised that the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) decided to set aside Council's decision and not issue a planning permit for the development of a convenience restaurant in Bromley Road, Robinvale.

The outcome of this decision is that the proposed $1.5 million, 24 hour Subway development will not go ahead on this site.

Council is disappointed by this decision and the lost opportunity to stimulate the economic vitality of Robinvale.

Robinvale has for many years struggled to get significant interest and investment in the town. This development would have indicated confidence for other investment in future development of the town. Despite this challenge, Council will continue to pursue private investment for the long term sustainability of Robinvale and the municipality.

The VCAT decision suggested that Council takes a more comprehensive approach to reviewing the strategic direction for the town as a whole. This suggestion will be considered by Council and will help to determine future uses for the land and further developments within Robinvale.
