Planning for a Strong, Sustainable Future

I am urging you to "Have Your Say" on the Future of Rural Living and Development in Central Goldfields

Central Goldfields Shire is seeking your input on the Rural Living Zone (RLZ) Review and the Land Use Framework Plan—two vital strategies working in tandem that will shape the future of our communities.

With a growing population, we must ensure there is enough land available for housing. The RLZ Review explores opportunities to rezone rural land—potentially shifting from 40,000sqm lots to around 4,000sqm—to better meet housing demand while preserving the rural character of our region.

The Land Use Framework Plan considers how residential and industrial development might evolve in areas such as Maryborough North, Flagstaff, and Carisbrook. This includes planning for higher housing density, industrial estate zoning, and the infrastructure needed to support a growing population and workforce. This also aligns with the State Government's housing initiative and reflects strong market interest in rural living options.

With the second stage of the Maryborough Hospital redevelopment now underway, we are entering an exciting new era of economic development and tourism. This growth will attract new residents, create jobs, and offer fresh opportunities for our community.

Now is the time to help shape the future of Central Goldfields. Tell us what you'd like to see in your region—your feedback is essential.

Council is running Community Workshops this week where you can meet staff directly to ask questions and have your say.

You can also make a submission online until August 26 at: www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/landuseframeworkplan

Exciting times are ahead—be part of the conversation!
