New Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has been invited to come and enjoy what Corangamite Shire has to offer.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein congratulated the Premier on her appointment to the State's top job last week.

"On behalf of Corangamite Shire Council, I would like to congratulate Ms Allan on being sworn in as Victoria's 49th premier," Cr Gstrein said.

"I have always believed that it is important for all tiers of government to cooperate so we can build positive outcomes for the people we represent.

"Council looks forward to continuing our working relationship with the Victorian Government to achieve results for the residents of Corangamite.

"I extend an invitation to Ms Allan to come to our Shire, meet some of our residents and experience our Shire firsthand.

"It will be an opportunity to discuss our hopes and aspirations for Corangamite Shire and the contribution we make to the State, particularly through agriculture and tourism."

Cr Gstrein also congratulated Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney on her portfolios of Regional Development and Skills and TAFE.

"Historically we have had a productive relationship with Minister Tierney as our local representative.

"Regional Development Victoria has been an extremely valuable collaborator with Council on many projects that have benefited our community.

"Council looks forward to continuing that relationship with a department led by a minister with an intimate understanding of our region's strengths and challenges."
