Mayor Reaffirms Commitment To Open Space At TG Millner

Mayor Trenton Brown

City of Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown attacked a "shock decision" by the Sydney North Planning Panel to rezone TG Millner Fields for housing when he was interviewed by 2GB's Clinton Maynard on Friday 13 June.

Mayor Brown reaffirmed Council's commitment to retain the 6.2ha site as critical active open space for the LGA's growing population, saying Council has more than adequate funds for the compulsory acquisition of the iconic Marsfield site.

He told the Sydney Now host that NSW Planning Minister Paul Scully had been misinformed by his department about the critical need for more open space in the City of Ryde, which faces an exponential growth in density and population over the next 15 years, particularly in the booming Macquarie Park Innovation District.
