- New liquor reforms a win for Goldfields' Beaten Track Brewery
- McGowan Government's liquor laws drives more business and tourism opportunities
- Reforms enable regional hospitality industry to explore extra ways to promote products
Kalgoorlie-Boulder owned and operated Beaten Track Brewery has been flourishing since the McGowan Labor Government's new liquor laws took effect.
In a first, the new laws have enabled Beaten Track Brewery to showcase its products at more pop-up events such as music festivals and private events.
Premier Mark McGowan visited the artisan beer makers, which brew every week and bottle their range of more than 120 beers in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, to understand the business and tourism growth it has experienced.
Increased interest towards Beaten Track Brewery products has been attributed to the extra opportunities it has been afforded, including attendance at pop-up events since the new liquor laws were passed in State Parliament in June.
The McGowan Government's recent changes to the Liquor Control Amendment Act 2018 have strengthened the industry, enabling licensees across Western Australia to grow their business through permits to sell and supply spirits, providing takeaway products and easier access to more pop-up events.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
"Beaten Track Brewery's success story highlights how the State Government and industry can work together to benefit businesses and consumers alike.
"My Government has been working tirelessly to ensure we have up-to-date liquor laws and innovative ideas that support Western Australians, boost the economy and drive visitors to our State.
"I'm pleased to see businesses like Beaten Track Brewery grasp the opportunities these liquor law changes have enabled to showcase their uniquely Kalgoorlie-Boulder product."
As stated by Mining and Pastoral Region MLC Kyle McGinn:
"It's really good to see the changes the McGowan Government has made have finally given some flexibility to a business that has fought hard to establish itself within Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
"We always hear about how small business and innovation is integral to seeing our region flourish and to bring in tourism. It's easy to see that Beaten Track have taken charge on how to create a successful and innovative small business in regional Western Australia.
"I'm very glad after much debate in both Houses we can see on the ground now the real world effects the law changes have made since being implemented, and am proud this fantastic Kalgoorlie-Boulder product is really on the map.
"I urge all locals who haven't had a chance yet to get down and have a tasting at the brewery, and most of all experience the difference a local passionate team is offering."
