A heartwarming story emerges from Wantirna, as a local woman realizes her dream of sharing a $1 million Wednesday Lotto win with her family. The lucky Melburnian was one of four division one winners nationally in the draw held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, securing a prize of $1 million.
The winner was on a holiday in North Queensland when she received the life-changing call from lottery officials. Overwhelmed with joy, "Oh my god! Oh my god! That’s wonderful – wonderful news!", she exclaimed when heard the good news.
Interestingly, she had initially doubted her chosen numbers, humorously remarking,
“I even looked at the numbers on my ticket and said, ‘Oh, those are s*** numbers!’. Well, I guess they’re not anymore. They’re my lucky numbers!
“We just arrived on holidays in North Queensland and we hadn’t had a chance to check our ticket.
She added her longstanding dream of winning the lottery and sharing it with her family had finally come true.
“I’ve always dreamt of winning the lottery one day, and I always said I’d share it with my family. It’s been a long-standing dream of mine.
The winner plans to celebrate her good fortune with a grand party, remarking, "I’m going to have a big party, a big bash! This is something worth celebrating!"
The winning ticket, a marked System 7 entry, was purchased at Manfre’s Hairdressing & TattsLotto in Wantirna. The store manager, Romina Manfre, expressed astonishment and delight at selling a division one winning ticket to a local and regular customer.
"It’s such wonderful news! We were just wondering if the prize had gone to a regular customer and we’re so pleased to hear it has," said Manfre.
The store has a history of significant wins, including a division two winning entry in Powerball earlier in the year, and a division one winning entry in Saturday Lotto just before the COVID lockdown. This latest win is seen as a perfect gift in time for Christmas.
