Melton motorcycle crash turns fatal

Officers from Melton Highway Patrol are appealing for information following a motorcycle crash in Melton on Monday 30 March.

It is believed a female rider was travelling north on Coburns Road, over the Western Freeway overpass, when she left the road and crashed about 3.15pm.

The rider, a 44-year-old woman from Melton, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries and passed away yesterday, Saturday 4 April.

Melton Highway Patrol officers are appealing for information and seeking the rider of a white motorbike to come forward.

The rider was believed to have been in close proximity to the incident and was last seen travelling on Coburns Road before entering the Western Freeway to travel city bound.

Police are also seeking occupants of a white SUV, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder, to come forward.

Investigations reveal they stopped at the scene and left prior to police arrival.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined at this stage.
