MidCoast Council is working to fix a number of water main breaks in Tuncurry.

The breaks have been occurring in the area east of Manning Street since late last week, causing unplanned disruptions in water supply to homes in Wharf, Wallis and Parkes streets and the surrounding areas.

"Our teams are working to fix these breaks as soon as they occur and are also investigating what may be causing the issue," said Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott.

"At the moment we haven't pinpointed the cause, but we believe the large amount of rainfall received in the area during the flood has contributed to the problem. The high groundwater levels in Tuncurry at the moment are also impacting on the situation and making repairs difficult."

Mr Scott urged any residents who experience water outages in the Tuncurry area to report the issue to Council immediately on 1300 133 455.
