Bayside Council is hosting the 2026 Migrant Information Day at Rockdale Town Hall in partnership with Advance Diversity Services and Georges River Council.
This free community event, which supports new migrants and refugees settling into the local community, will be held on Wednesday 7 October from 10am to 1pm at Rockdale Town Hall.
Initiated by the St George Multicultural Network more than 20 years ago, Migrant Information Day has become an important resource for newly arrived migrants and refugees, connecting them with information, services and community support.
The event provides valuable information on a wide range of topics, including housing, health, employment, education, support services and government programs. It plays a vital role in helping new arrivals navigate life in Australia and build strong connections within the diverse Bayside community.
Visitors will be able to access a variety of information stalls and enjoy cultural performances throughout the day. Council's Environment and Resilience team will also host a pop-up stall featuring fun activities, translated information, resources and giveaways designed to support participation in local environmental programs.
Additional activities will include library tours, health and hearing checks, and bilingual storytime at Rockdale Library.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to watch a cooking demonstration by MasterChef contestant Emily Sue, presented in partnership with SBS Media Hub.
Migrants and refugees, along with members of the broader multicultural community, are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the wealth of information, services and connections available at this valuable community event.
