A man has been charged with drink-driving after crashing a minibus into a parked police vehicle in the state's north overnight.
About 11.40pm (Wednesday 8 September 2021), a man was driving a Mitsubishi minibus north of Wharf Street, Tweed Heads, carrying four passengers, when he crashed into a police vehicle that was parked outside the police station.
Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District heard the noise and ran outside to find the 52-year-old driver getting out of the bus with his passengers - one man and three women – who all escaped injury.
The driver was breath tested at the scene and allegedly provided a positive reading.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he submitted a breath analysis reading of 0.065.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for low range PCA and negligent driving.
He is due to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday 5 October 2021.
