Minister Bibeau Spotlights Budget 2023 Clean Economy Investments

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

The world's major economies are moving at an unprecedented pace to build the net-zero industries of tomorrow. To build Canada's clean economy, Budget 2023 makes transformative investments to fight climate change and create new opportunities for Canadian businesses and workers. This includes significant measures that will deliver cleaner and more affordable energy, support investment in our communities, and create good-paying jobs.

Today, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, met with companies in Québec to highlight Budget 2023 investments that will support sustainable jobs and clean technologies. This included a visit to Bosk Bioproducts in Québec City, a company that produces bio-based products as a sustainable alternative to plastics. Later in the day, she joined the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, on a tour of Neksys-Excelpro, an electrical panel manufacturer in Trois-Rivières.

Canada has made a remarkable recovery from the COVID recession. The country's economic growth was the strongest in the G7 over the last year, and today, 830,000 more Canadians are employed than before the pandemic. Inflation in Canada has fallen for eight months in a row and our unemployment rate is near its record low. With a responsible fiscal plan that will see Canada maintain the lowest deficit and the lowest net debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7, Budget 2023 will help to build a Canada that is more secure, more sustainable, and more affordable for people from coast to coast to coast.
