Canada’s trade diversification strategy is all about securing more markets and providing more of the country’s innovative, ambitious and hard-working Canadian entrepreneurs with not only the access but the terms and tools they need to compete and succeed. With trade agreements giving Canadian businesses access to nearly two thirds of the global economy, Canada is one of the world’s most connected countries in trade, and that translates into economic growth and, ultimately, more well-paid jobs for Canadians.
Today, the Honourable Jim Carr, Minister of International Trade Diversification, is travelling to Regina, Saskatchewan, to highlight the ever-growing opportunities available to Canadian businesses abroad and promote Canada’s ambitious trade diversification strategy.
The Minister will meet with David Marit, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Agriculture and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation, as well as local business and industry leaders. While in Regina, Minister Carr will also participate in an event at the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership.
Throughout his tour, Minister Carr will highlight in particular the benefits of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and other trade agreements for Saskatchewan exporters.

Saskatchewan’s exports to the European Union were valued at nearly $888 million in 2017.
Saskatchewan’s annual exports to CPTPP countries averaged a value of $2.5 billion from 2015 to 2017.
The #TradeTalks tour is an initiative in which the government engages directly with Canadian business people to help maximize international trade benefits for the middle class.
To date, the #TradeTalks tour has included stops in several regions in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
