The latest designs of the new $2 billion Bankstown Hospital have been unveiled, with the State Significant Development Application now on exhibition and the community invited to have their say.
The Minns Labor Government is investing a record $2 billion in the new Bankstown Hospital to help meet the healthcare needs of fast-growing and diverse communities in Sydney's south-west.
New artist's impressions showcase plans for the new 14-storey hospital building, along with the 10-storey car park. A separate emergency drop-off area and dedicated emergency parking will improve the arrival experience for patients and carers.
The images show the welcoming green plaza and main entry from Chapel Road. The hospital's main entry includes drop-off and pick-up locations for patients with retail and other amenities. The colours of the façade of the new facility have been inspired by local geology, native canopies and expansive skies which celebrate a deep First Nations connection to place.
Located in the heart of Bankstown's CBD, the new hospital will be within walking distance to local amenities and transport links, including the future Bankstown Metro station.
Subject to planning approval, the new health facility will deliver enhanced health services and facilities within a multistorey hospital, which will house acute health services including emergency, operating theatres and inpatient services.
The State Significant Development Application (SSDA) for main works construction of the new Bankstown Hospital is on public exhibition until 11.59 pm on Thursday, 7 May 2026 and available to view at: https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects/projects/new-bankstown-hospital.
