Search activity is underway in the mountain ranges north-east of Greymouth for a 75-year-old man who was reported missing after failing to return from a hike.
Roy Arbon was reported overdue from a walk in the Mt Davy area.
He may be wearing a blue puffer jacket, shorts, hiking boots but this is not confirmed.
Police are appealing for any sightings of Roy or information about his movements from Wednesday, July 23.
Both police Search and Rescue teams, LANDSAR volunteers from Greymouth and surrounding areas, and a Police Search and Rescue dog are involved in the search of the area in what are described as mountainous and challenging conditions.
Teams are on the ground canvassing areas and tracks the tramper may have taken supported by helicopters.
Although the 75-year-old is an experienced hiker, there are concerns for his wellbeing given the length of time he has been overdue with no contact and the cold temperatures.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have information that can assist. Information can be provided to 105, quoting job number P063265345.
