Mitchell's Four-Bin Service Boosts Recycling Results

Mitchell Shire Council will consider a report at its November Council meeting highlighting strong results from the first six months of the Shire's new four-bin kerbside collection service.

Introduced in March this year, the new system has already seen more than 55% of household waste collected at the kerbside diverted from landfill, supporting Council's Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 target to divert 80% of waste from landfill by 2030.

The service includes separate bins for general rubbish (fortnightly), mixed recycling (fortnightly), glass (monthly) and food and garden organics (weekly), helping residents recycle more and send less waste to landfill.

Mitchell Shire Council CEO Mary Agostino said the results showed the community's efforts were making a real difference.
