MKM Construction to Build Pony Club Arena in Ararat

Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Ballarat-based MKM Construction to build the new undercover arena at the Ararat Pony Club.

MKM Construction was selected following a competitive tender process, offering a strongly valued submission to deliver the 50-metre by 81-metre covered facility, meeting all specification requirements and funding timeframes.

MKM Construction brings extensive experience to the project, having successfully delivered major constructions locally, including the Gason laser facility, Great Western Football and Netball clubrooms, and the transfer station facilities.

The new arena will provide a modern, weather-protected space for the Pony Club community, enhancing opportunities for participation and local events.

Ararat Rural City Council looks forward to working with MKM Construction on this exciting development for local equestrian sport and community use.

Dr Tim Harrison, Chief Executive Officer, said, "MKM Construction has demonstrated their commitment and capability on projects that really matter to our community, and we are delighted to welcome them back for this significant build. The new arena will be a fantastic asset for Ararat Pony Club and the wider region. Council's careful planning and the support of our funding partners continue to deliver real improvements for our residents, and I look forward to seeing the project take shape in the months ahead."

Helen Spencer, Ararat Pony Club President, said "We are delighted to see this project moving ahead, thanks to the partnership between the Pony Club and Council. Having a covered arena will mean our riders are able to continue developing their skills and enjoying equestrian activities, no matter the weather. It's been fantastic to work so closely with Council, and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of riders to a truly modern local facility."

Construction is scheduled to be completed by late April 2026, ensuring the new facility is available for upcoming programs and events.

The Council thanks everyone involved in the tender process and congratulates MKM Construction on their appointment. For ongoing progress reports on this major project, visit the Engage Ararat website.
