The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that Mona Fortier, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will travel to Washington, D.C., to represent Minister Anand at the Organization of American States' (OAS's) Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign Ministers on the situation in Nicaragua.
The meeting will address Nicaragua's latest constitutional reforms, which further dismantle democratic institutions, exclude political opposition and entrench authoritarian rule. Nicaraguans must be free to choose their leaders through free, fair and credible elections and be free to enjoy their human rights.
