Monash University

Monash University has risen five places to 31st in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2027 – its strongest performance to date.

The historic result, up from =36th last year, continues the University's upward trajectory in the rankings for more than a decade, reflecting its growing impact, influence and reputation globally.

Monash also achieved the greatest improvement across Australia's top-ranking Group of Eight universities.

"In just under 70 years Monash has become one of the world's leading universities," said Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Sharon Pickering.

"In fact, Monash is one of the fastest rising universities in the top 50 globally, accelerating 29 places in the past decade.

"We have a proud history and an ambitious set of aspirations for our future and impact. This performance reinforces that we are well-positioned to advance our strategic aspiration of social and technological transformation for the communities and industries we serve. My thanks and congratulations to our entire community who have, and continue to, contribute to this shared success."

Monash's success is attributed to its outstanding research performance and its international reputation for academic excellence.

The result follows broad success in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, which saw Monash's pharmacy and economics subjects ranked best in Australia, and 19 other subjects ranked in the top-50 globally.
