Monkeypox virus case

We've been notified of a case of monkeypox (MPX) in a man who has recently returned home from overseas. He is currently isolating at home.

Two people who had close contact with the man have been identified and advised to receive the MPX vaccine.

There is no risk to public health. SA Health continues to test people with illnesses compatible with MPX as needed.

New monkeypox cases will be included in the disease notification report (PDF 128KB) online which is updated weekly.

As always, SA Health will notify South Australians if there is any risk to public health.
