The Tasmanian Government is working hard to ensure farmers are well equipped to prepare for and deal with the impact of changing seasonal conditions, particularly drought.
To help farmers build resilience and better prepare for future dry conditions, the Tasmanian Government has begun publishing monthly Seasonal Conditions Insight snapshots, delivering on an important election commitment.
Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Gavin Pearce, said our Government is delivering for Tasmanians.
"These snapshots will provide timely, practical information to support on-farm decision-making and drought planning," Minister Pearce said.
"We know that our farmers and growers faced some tough drought conditions last year.
"King and Flinders Islands in particular, along with parts of mainland Tasmania, felt the brunt of these challenging conditions.
"We're delivering on a range of supports ahead of the upcoming summer, with these monthly insights playing an important role in our ongoing efforts to help our farmers plan ahead, adapt, and strengthen their resilience to future challenges.
"By publishing the monthly Seasonal Conditions Insights snapshots, we aim to assist farmers and the agricultural sector with their on-farm decision making, while supporting preparedness and productivity activities."
A range of tools are used in the assessment of seasonal conditions, including the newly developed AI-driven Soil Moisture Mapping Tool developed in collaboration with the University of Sydney.
