More Bus Services Across Melbourne's Growing West

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is delivering better access to bus services across communities in the growing west with 470 more weekly trips on four major routes.

Delivering better connections to train services at Werribee, Tarneit and Wyndham Vale stations and major local destinations including Pacific Werribee Shopping Centre, Manor Lakes Central Shopping Centre, Tarneit Central Shopping Centre and Wyndham Vale Square Shopping Centre.

From Tuesday, 1 July, bus routes 170, 180, 190 and 192 will have more trips and longer operating hours, with services running later into the evening most days of the week.

These extra services will give locals and shift workers more ways to travel that works for them, whether it's coming back from Saturday night footy, doing some late-night shopping, or coming home after work.

This is part of $162 million for new and improved bus services announced in the Victorian Budget 2025/26, with a focus on connecting communities in Melbourne's growing suburbs to key local destinations including train stations, schools, health services, shops and jobs.

This includes funding for the future roll out of seven new or upgraded bus services, across Tarneit, Tarneit West, Rockbank, Aintree, Deanside, Cairnlea, Thornhill Park, Cobblebank and Mt Atkinson.

A new Route 140 service from Rockbank to Tarneit will provide an important cross-suburban link for growing communities in Truganina as well as providing connectivity between Melton and Wyndham.

In Werribee South, Kings Leigh Estate will be connected to the bus network for the first time and services increased to the new Wyndham Law Courts and Employment Precincts.

In the north, a new route will connect Mystique Estate in Wollert's north to Epping Station, and an upgraded route connecting Beveridge (Mandalay) with Craigieburn Station.

In the south-east, the community will get a new cross Peninsula bus service directly connecting Hastings and Mornington via Tyabb Road. Mornington's main 784 and 785 bus routes are also being upgraded to improve connectivity, coverage, and performance.

The new services support Victoria's Bus Plan, with funding also provided in the budget to undertake a review of priority regional town bus networks including Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula.

Since launching Victoria's Bus Plan in June 2021, more than 110 local bus networks have been redesigned or strengthened, giving Victorian communities access to almost 6,000 more services each week.

Several of the new services are supported by Growth Area Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) funding. Last year, the Labor Government announced a package of $153 million of GAIC funding for seven new or improved bus services with these currently being delivered in Casey, Cardinia, Hume and Wyndham.

Timetables and more information on the July service improvements will be available from Sunday, 13 June at ptv.vic.gov.au.
