More flights added to Bendigo to Sydney service

The City of Greater Bendigo has welcomed news Qantas has added more flights for the second time since launching the Bendigo to Sydney service in March.

Due to strong demand, a further three return flights have been added to the schedule which takes the number of return services to 10 each week.

The additional services will run on Monday, Thursday and Friday, with flights departing Sydney mid-morning and landing in Bendigo late morning/lunchtime, with the plane then flying from Bendigo back to Sydney at lunchtime/early afternoon.

Chief Executive Officer Craig Niemann said the new flights highlighted demand had again grown for the service.

"This decision by Qantas is in response to growth in the market, particularly people coming from Sydney, which is really exciting and demonstrates it is not just local people using the service for business and leisure purposes," Mr Niemann said.

"On average, about 2,000 people a month fly between Bendigo and Sydney, so the service continues to exceed our expectations and we appreciate the support from Qantas to provide a flexible flight schedule that makes it easier for people to travel between the two cities."
