More Than 4,000 Homes Declared State Significant

NSW Gov

Eleven new housing projects have been declared as State Significant Development (SSD) following recommendations from the Housing Delivery Authority (HDA).

Of these, 10 are in metropolitan Sydney and one is in regional NSW.

If all are lodged and approved, the proposed developments could create more than 4000 new homes across New South Wales, including affordable housing.

There are now 509 State significant HDA proposals with the potential to create more than 158,000 new homes in various stages of the planning and construction process.

Of these 26 projects have been approved, unlocking more than 4,722 homes and construction work has commenced at 11 sites.

SSD applications have been lodged for a further 95 projects representing around 38,000 potential homes.

To date, State Significant Development declarations have been revoked from 32 proposals which have not met timelines or where the applicant has chosen not to proceed.

Recommendations from the HDA are published as required under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 before the SSD declaration.
