Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the Movie Night is a meaningful way for Council to thank the dedicated volunteers who make a difference every day.
"Volunteers are the heart of our community. Their generosity, compassion and commitment help create a more connected, resilient and inclusive Shellharbour," Mayor Homer said.
"This event is a small gesture to say thank you to the many individuals and organisations who give their time and energy to support others."
Volunteers from more than 50 local organisations were treated to a private screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2, along with complimentary refreshments and an official welcome.
Council's Volunteer Movie Night is one of several initiatives supporting and celebrating volunteers across the city, recognising the vital role they play in delivering services, supporting local groups and building strong community connections.
National Volunteer Week (18-24 May) is Australia's largest annual celebration of volunteering, recognising the millions of Australians who generously give their time to strengthen communities and support those in need.
Council will also host the Shellharbour Volunteer Expo on Saturday 23 May 2026 at the Shellharbour Civic Centre, bringing together a wide range of local community organisations, clubs and groups; all eager to connect with people interested in volunteering.
