Mt Prichard Hit and Run: Man Faces Charges

A man will face court tomorrow charged over an alleged hit and run at Mt Prichard today.

About 3am (Wednesday 6 March 2024), emergency services were called to the intersection of Pritchard Street and Hemphill Avenue, Mt Pritchard, following reports a man was found with serious injuries.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended; however, the man was found to have died at the scene.

He has since been identified as a 31-year-old man from Auburn.

Police established a crime scene and officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the incident.

Officers executed a crime scene warrant at a nearby home where a Lexus sedan was seized for forensic examination.

During a search of the home, police also seized almost $950,000 in cash.

Police arrested a 55-year-old man at the home, and he was taken to Fairfield Police Station.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), fail to stop & assist after vehicle impact causing death and knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime.

The man has been bail refused to appear at Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 7 March 2024).

His licence has also been suspended.

Investigations are continuing.
