The Authority was updated on the development of amendments to the Murray-Darling Basin Agreement, and the preparation of protocols under Schedule D in connection with interstate and intervalley trade.
Members approved the draft Sustainable Diversion Limit Accounts Registers of Take and Interim Registers of Take report for the 2024-25 water year. The report will shortly be provided to the Inspector-General of Water Compliance and then later be published on the MDBA website. The registers of take fulfil an annual legislative requirement under the Basin Plan and remain an important element of the MDBA's monitoring and reporting responsibilities.
Members approved changes to the Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) default method to enable accurate representation of the SDLAM supply measures Restoring Flows to the Mallee Floodplain and the Nimmie-Caira Infrastructure Modification Proposal.
The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder, Dr Simon Banks, provided the Authority with an update on environmental watering activities across the Basin, and members received an update from the Bureau of Meteorology.
The Inspector-General of Water Compliance (IGWC) provided an update on current work program and activities relevant to the MDBA and issues of shared interest and ongoing collaboration were discussed.
Members were updated on the progress of the 12-week consultation of the Basin Plan Review Discussion Paper which is open until 1 May 2026. Engagement has occurred through more than 150 meetings, visits, roundtables and a Basin Leadership Summit with industry, community members, First Nations people, Basin governments and other stakeholders.
