The Chair of National Australia Bank Limited, Philip Chronican, today announced the appointment of Alison Kitchen as an independent non-executive director, effective 27 September 2023.
Ms Kitchen has been National Chair of KPMG Australia and a member of KPMG's Global and Regional boards for almost six years and a KPMG employee for over 30 years, providing advice in areas including external audit, transaction support, risk management, internal controls, business processes and regulatory change to a wide range of industries, including financial services. Ms Kitchen will retire from KPMG in September.
Mr Chronican said Ms Kitchen was a highly-credentialled business leader with deeply relevant experience. Her appointment supports the NAB's Board renewal strategy. Ms Kitchen will be a member of the NAB Board's Audit Committee and will succeed David Armstrong as Chair of that Committee when he steps down from the Board after the NAB 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Ms Kitchen's appointment is subject to regulatory approval. She joins Carolyn Kay and Christine Fellowes as director appointments to be considered by NAB's shareholders at the 2023 AGM on 15 December.
This appointment will take the NAB Board to 12 directors, including the Managing Director. Two non-executive directors, David Armstrong and Peeyush Gupta, will retire at the AGM having served three three-year terms.
