The City of Hobart will host a major night-time economy industry event, bringing two of Australia's leading night-time economy Commissioners to the city.

NSW 24-Hour Economy Commissioner Michael Rodrigues and Queensland Night-Time Economy Commissioner John "JC" Collins will visit Hobart to share their experience in growing vibrant, safe and economically strong night-time economies.

The visit will provide an opportunity for local businesses, industry representatives and stakeholders to hear insights from two of the country's leading practitioners in night-time economy policy and activation.

The event builds on the City's 2025 industry roundtable and continues work to strengthen Hobart's after-dark offering.

Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said the visit highlighted the importance of the night-time economy to the city's future.

Mr Rodrigues, appointed as NSW's first 24-Hour Economy Commissioner in 2021, leads the state's strategy to support businesses operating across the day and night.

Mr Collins, the former bass guitarist with Australian rock icon Powderfinger, respected music industry figure and venue operator, was appointed Queensland's Night-Time Economy Commissioner in 2024 and works to strengthen connections between industry and government.

Cr Reynolds said their insights would be valuable as Hobart continues to grow.

Tasmanian Government representatives will also attend and speak at the event.

Quotes to be attributed to Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds:

"This is a fantastic opportunity for Hobart's industry to hear directly from leaders who are shaping the future of nightlife in Australia.

"Our night-time economy is a major driver of jobs, investment and city vibrancy, and learning from the experience of NSW and Queensland will help us grow sustainably and safely.

"Hobart's night-time economy already supports more than 7000 jobs and 650 local businesses.

"Events like this ensure we keep building a city that is lively, welcoming and economically strong after dark."
