New ambulance station to put more paramedics in Armstrong Creek

Liberal Party Victoria

After years of broken promises from the Andrews Labor Government, Armstrong Creek residents will have the confidence to know an ambulance is close by with the Liberals and Nationals today committing to fund and build an ambulance station in the suburb.

A Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver $4 million toward the new build, meaning the local community will no longer be forced to rely on ambulances and paramedics stationed at Belmont or Torquay.

A final site for the station will be identified in consultation with Ambulance Victoria, and will include consideration of land set aside in structure plans, located on Boundary Road, Armstrong Creek near the corner of the Surf Coast Highway.

The project will also provide an opportunity for the co-location of a new ambulance station and new fire station for Armstrong Creek after Labor's failure to progress construction of the fire station it promised in 2018.

Leader of the Liberal Party, Matthew Guy, said residents deserve to feel safe knowing an ambulance is around the corner in times of need.

"The health system has been fundamentally underfunded and mismanaged for years and Victorians are being denied an ambulance when they need one," Mr Guy said.

"This commitment to build a new ambulance station in Armstrong Creek will back our healthcare workers to give the care locals deserve."

Shadow Minister for Ambulance Services, Georgie Crozier, said Armstrong Creek needed better emergency services infrastructure including for ambulances as it continues to grow.

"This new ambulance station will provide confidence to residents living south of Geelong that an ambulance isn't far away," Ms Crozier said.

"For too long, Labor has sat on its hands when it should have been getting on with this important local project."

Liberal Candidate for South Barwon, Andrew Katos, said Labor couldn't be trusted to deliver the safety that local residents deserve.

"This commitment will finally give residents peace of mind to know that when they need a paramedic, it won't be coming from out of town," Mr Katos said.

"You can't trust those who have had their chance to build what the Armstrong Creek community has been crying out for to be the ones to get it done. Only a Matthew Guy led Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver a new ambulance station for our community."
