New Baldivis primary school officially opened

  • $16.3 million Sheoak Grove Primary School in Baldivis officially opened

  • Premier Mark McGowan and Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery were joined by Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby, staff and students today to officially open the brand new Sheoak Grove Primary in Baldivis.

    A key McGowan Government election commitment, more than 250 students are enrolled from kindergarten to Year 6 in the brand new state-of-the-art $16.3 million primary school.

    There are 27 foundation staff members at the brand new school, including the principal, deputy principal, teachers, administration staff, education assistants, cleaners, a gardener and a library officer.

    Sheoak Grove Primary School has three classroom blocks, an inclusive education classroom, art room and a covered assembly area with a canteen, music room and sports storeroom.

    In addition, a specialised early childhood block has five classrooms with an innovative outdoor learning spaces.

    Students and families are also enjoying a nature play area, grassed play spaces, oval, sports courts and a cricket pitch.

    The name Sheoak has language and cultural connections to the local Noongar culture. The name Grove relates to a nearby stand of Sheoak trees. 

    As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

    "Baldivis is a rapidly growing suburb, with many families moving into the area. It's important we provide the best facilities for our local kids to learn in.

    "This new $16.3 million state-of-the-art primary school already has 250 students and I'm sure will continue to grow as the area becomes even more popular."

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    "Students and families have started off the new school year, enjoying the modern facilities at the new Sheoak Grove Primary School.

    "This fantastic new school is filled with the latest technology and ensures the innovative teachers are supporting every student to reach their potential."

    As stated by Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby:

    "I want to thank the McGowan Government for recognising the needs of Baldivis and providing us with another high-quality local school.

    "Local parents, Principal Mr Craig Stanners and his dedicated team have all done an amazing job to create a fantastic school community and culture."
