The Allan Labor Government has delivered a new and improved community space for the Greater Dandenong community, as part of the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
Member for Mordialloc Tim Richardson today visited the new Keysborough Community Hub to formally announce the completion of the multi-purpose centre.
The Keysborough Community Hub is a multi-purpose space which provides a wide variety of community-focused activities and programs that serve locals of all ages, engage individuals and families, and strengthen the broader community.
Activities set to be hosted at the hub's new library lounge include story time, baby bounce and lifelong learning programs tailored to the Keysborough South community.
The library lounge is a key feature of the project, with a range of different spaces, including meeting rooms and places to study, helping meet the changing needs of the growing local community.
To maximise accessibility and make reading easier, the lounge has been designed to offer after hours returns, and features pick up points for books on hold, a curated collection of magazines and books, and a self-scan kiosk. It will also offer bookable computers, self-serve printing and photocopying, and free Wi-Fi.
The project was delivered through the Labor Government's Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, which contributed $1 million towards the library lounge redevelopment.
Government support also included $5.12 million through the Community Infrastructure Loans Scheme and $3 million via the Building Blocks Program, while Greater Dandenong Council provided over $22 million to the project.
The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program helps councils and suburban and regional libraries across Victoria provides access to funding for essential infrastructure works to meet their communities' changing needs.
Over the past decade, the Government has enriched local communities by investing more than $53.3 million into 158 library infrastructure projects, across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria.
Applications are now open for the latest funding round of the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program. For more information visit http://www.localgovernment.vic.gov.au/grants/living-libraries-infrastructure-program
