Students across Moonee Valley now have better classrooms and school facilities to learn in, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Essendon Danny Pearson today visited Ascot Vale Primary School and Strathmore Primary School to open the new facilities, celebrating with excited students and staff.
The $1.76 million upgrades for Ascot Vale Primary School include a classroom modernisation, a new oval, modernised play areas and upgrade works for the toilet block.
The $6.3 million upgrades for Strathmore Primary School include a new competition grade sports stadium, refurbished administration and junior learning facilities.
Strathmore Primary School’s new sports stadium, with the exterior courts, provides high quality sporting facilities that the school can share with the local community.
The junior learning and administration building is designed to support contemporary learning practice by replacing existing cellular classrooms with connected spaces to give students a variety of learning environments.
The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades and supporting over 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
Under the Labor Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school and get a great start in life.
This building boom will continue over the coming years, with the Government having already appointed builders to start delivering 11 schools across the state that will open in 2020.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
