New Councillor Elected On Countback In Cessnock LGA

Cessnock City Council welcomes its newest councillor, Deborah Dunne, who was elected in a recent NSW Electoral Commission countback of votes.

The result marks the beginning of Clr Dunne's first term as an elected local government representative.

She will fill the position in Ward D made vacant as a result of the resignation of Rosa Grine in September.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton welcomed Clr Dunne and congratulated her on her election.

"I look forward to working with Clr Dunne as part of our team of elected councillors, as Council continues to strive for sustainability and delivery of quality outcomes for our community," said Clr Watton.

"I would also like to thank former councillor Rosa Grine for her service during her time on Council."

A countback election was undertaken in accordance with previous council resolutions. In October 2024, Council resolved unanimously that a countback election should take place if a councillor resigned in the first 18 months of this term.
