The Crisafulli Government has delivered a multi-million dollar upgrade to one of Queensland's most popular national parks, with a new picnic and camping area at Bunya Mountains National Park.

Following an extensive revitalisation, the iconic Dandabah picnic and camping area now offers a refreshed and immersive rainforest experience in the South Burnett Region.

The project is part of Destination 2045, a 20-year plan guiding the future of tourism and strengthening Queensland's ecotourism offerings.

Dandabah picnic and camping area now features an elevated boardwalk, wheelchair accessible barbecue area, upgraded carpark, and a visitor information hub with interpretative content.

These upgrades will deliver a better ecotourism and visitor experience to the around 200,000 people who visit Bunya Mountains National Park every year.

The Crisafulli Government is investing in eco-tourism after a decade of decline under the former Labor Government who had a secret plan to slash tourism funding which would have left Queenslanders without tourism products.

Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said the upgrades would ensure the national park remained a premier destination for ecotourism.

"These upgrades are about protecting a world‑class natural asset and positioning the South Burnett as a standout ecotourism destination," Minister Powell said.

"With peak visitation on the horizon and a major Bunya season ahead, this investment ensures the park is ready to welcome more visitors while preserving what makes it special.

"Through long‑term initiatives like Destination 2045, we're backing sustainable tourism that showcases Queensland's unique landscapes and delivers real benefits to regional communities."

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the completion of the upgrade was a huge win for the local community.

"The Bunya Mountains is a special place for both locals and visitors, and the upgrades to Dandabah will only enhance the iconic national park even further," Ms Frecklington said.

"This project strengthens the South Burnett's appeal as a unique destination for eco-tourism and encourages more people to visit, explore and enjoy the region."
