New Endometriosis And Pelvic Pain Clinic Opens In Joondalup

Women and girls in Perth's north will soon have access to specialist care for endometriosis and pelvic pain, with a new clinic opening in Joondalup on Monday, 19 January.

Delivered by the Australian Government, the endometriosis and pelvic pain clinic will operate from Luma and will provide specialist, multidisciplinary care for women and girls living with endometriosis and pelvic pain.

Endometriosis affects at least 1 in 7 Australian women. It can have an extensive, devastating impact on the daily lives of sufferers, who face an average 7-year delay in diagnosis.

Pelvic pain can be similarly complex and debilitating, with the impact being felt beyond individuals. It is estimated to cost the Australian economy $6 billion a year.

It will also improve healthcare and education of perimenopause and menopause for women living with symptoms.

The clinic will also support women experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, helping to improve diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care closer to home.

The Joondalup clinic is one of 11 new endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics announced last year.

In total, there will be 33 clinics across Australia, including three in Western Australia in both regional and metropolitan locations, improving access to specialist care.

These clinics are a key part of the government's landmark Women's Health Package, investing almost $800 million in funding to deliver improved health care and access for women and girls.

The clinic is commissioned and operated by Perth North Primary Health Network.
