New Fence Adds Traditional Charm to Bob Pettitt Reserve

We are replacing the ageing perimeter fencing at Jan Juc's Bob Pettitt Reserve oval with a new white picket fence.

The new look has been requested by reserve tenants Jan Juc Cricket Club, and will give the oval a traditional cricket ground feel.

The fence is made from aluminium with a graffiti resistant PVC coating, creating the look of white wooden pickets but with improved durability.

It will be longer lasting and require less maintenance than the existing wire fencing, which is damaged and due for renewal.

Councillor Liz Pattison said this type of aluminium picket fencing is becoming increasingly popular at Australian cricket grounds.

"We're happy to have worked with Jan Juc Cricket Club to select a new fence for their home ground," Cr Pattison said.

"The white pickets will look great and be less costly to maintain than the old wire fence."

The new fence will include an extra access point behind the northern football goals and a relocated access point directly behind the southern goals, to help with ball retrieval during football season.

Installation has started today (Monday 20 April) and will take around three weeks.

The fence is being installed in small sections and the oval will remain open to the community and available for football training and matches throughout the process.

This project is funded via Council's 2025-26 asset renewal budget.
