A major milestone has been reached for one of South East Queensland's fastest growing communities, with the delivery of Logan City Council's new $8 million community centre in Flagstone.
The Flagstone Parklands Community Hub officially opened this week and will support locals for decades to come.
Mayor Jon Raven said the hub was a significant investment in the community's future.
"This centre ensures local families have access to the facilities and services they need close to home," Mayor Raven said.
"As Flagstone grows, we're making sure community facilities grow with it."
The hub was delivered as part of Council's Community Infrastructure Plan 2024 to 2041 and is the first of several community facilities planned for the area.
Division 11 Councillor Natalie Willcocks said residents had long called for a dedicated community space.
"For years residents have asked for a place like this and now it's here, and it's beautiful," Cr Willcocks said.
"Greater Flagstone will be home to 138,000 residents when fully developed, so we are making sure we are looking ahead to meet future needs."
The centre features meeting spaces and multipurpose rooms, including a dedicated maker space for creatives and direct access to the Flagstone Adventure Playground.
The space also includes solar panels, provision for EV charging stations, bike facilities and fully accessible amenities, as well as artwork at the front of the building by First Nations local artist Jessica Skeen.
Community service provider Beaucare, which has a long history of supporting communities across the region, will operate the centre.
"Beaucare is excited to broaden our engagement with the Flagstone community and have a base for our existing services in this vibrant space," Beaucare's General Manager Louise Dyer said.
Located at 51 Parklands Drive, the centre is open weekdays from 8am-4pm.
