The Cook Government, through Lotterywest, is supporting Western Australia's unique and rapidly growing screen industry with funding of $10.8 million.

This record $10.8 million grant marks 30 years of Lotterywest support for Screenwest and the State's creative industry.

Following last year's $10.7 million grant, this year's support demonstrates the Cook Government's ongoing commitment to strengthening the local screen industry and promoting diverse storytelling in WA.

The grant will help provide a pipeline of local screen productions and enable local creatives to bring authentic WA stories to life, that create a sense of connection among the community.

Lotterywest's $10.8 million grant will support:

  • increased production expenditure in WA;
  • stronger career pathways for local talent;
  • greater representation of Aboriginal voices; and
  • broader community benefit through diverse and inclusive screen content.

Lotterywest's support for Screenwest directly contributes to the WA Screen Industry Strategy 2024-2034 and Creative WA.

Since 1995, Screenwest has benefited from 41 Lotterywest grants totalling more than $171 million.

Lotterywest is the only State Government-owned and operated lottery in the country where all available profits are returned to the community.
