One of Logan's most loved community services has set its direction for the next four years.
Logan City Council Libraries Learning and Discovery Strategy 2019-2023 has been adopted by Logan City Council.
The strategy will shape the future of learning in Logan's libraries which are visited each year by more than 1.6 million people.
In April, Council asked the community to provide feedback on the draft strategy.
This feedback has now been incorporated into the final strategy which details the programming and community learning to take place in the city's nine libraries over the next four years.
Council's Community Services Director Katie Barton-Harvey said the strategy ensured the library service would deliver programming which responded to the needs and aspirations of the local community.
"Our libraries are one of Council's key services and it is vital that they are able to respond to the diverse needs of our community," Ms Barton-Harvey said.
"We want our libraries to be welcoming spaces for everyone and hubs for lifelong, self-directed learning and discoveries."
This includes providing digital literacy opportunities to help make new and emerging technologies more accessible for all ages.
An entrepreneurship program that aims to develop the innovation capacity of Logan's youth is also included.
The strategy also encourages a love of reading among the Logan community and reinforces the concept of reading as a life skill.
During 2017/18, 122,212 people participated in 8386 library programs with increased attendance at digital literacy and early years' activities.
With 139,093 library members, over the 2017/18 financial year, Logan residents engaged with libraries in a variety of ways including:
* borrowing 1,922,584 library items
* asking library staff 510,117 reference enquiries
* visiting the Library website 846,465 times
* using the community meeting rooms for 13,600 hours
* accessing 127,716 hours of internet time at libraries
* connecting to the library Wi-Fi network 79,139 times
