New look for Yanchep Lagoon Primary School revealed

  • Design released for multimillion dollar Yanchep Lagoon Primary School redevelopment
  • Project expected to be completed in May 2021
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has released the first artist's impression of the $15 million redevelopment of Yanchep Lagoon Primary School.

Designed by T&Z Architects, the revitalised school will feature three new classroom blocks, a new library, covered assembly area and new hard courts. Two existing classroom buildings will be refurbished.

First opened in 1975 as Yanchep District High School, the school became Yanchep Lagoon Primary School last year.

The primary school provides a broad curriculum and has specialist music, science and Indonesian teachers.

The McGowan Government is investing $452.8 million in 2019-20 to improve infrastructure in Western Australian public schools and create jobs.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"This major redevelopment of Yanchep Lagoon Primary School is further evidence of the McGowan Government's commitment to creating quality learning spaces for Western Australian students.

"Once complete, the new-look Yanchep Lagoon Primary School will be a modern, vibrant school - to inspire teaching and learning."

As stated by Butler MLA John Quigley:

"The school provides a broad curriculum and students can participate in after-school sport activities, a breakfast club, before-school reading program and a school choir.

"I am proud to deliver on an election commitment to redevelop Yanchep Lagoon Primary School which will inspire local students well into the future."
