New members appointed to Classification Review Board

The Government has appointed Stephanie McCaughey, Mr Clifford Weeks and Mr Damien Power as Members of the Classification Review Board commencing Friday 3 February until 14 September 2024.

The Classification Review Board is an independent statutory body established under the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995. It meets when an application for a review of a decision by the Classification Board has been lodged.

Ms McCaughey is an accredited mediator with a background in criminology and victimology, including developing and leading organisations through the Royal Commissions into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse and Mental Health Care in Victoria. Ms McCaughey has also worked with organisations supporting vulnerable adults and victims of trauma.

Mr Weeks, a Yamatji Nanda man from Western Australia, has worked in the Northern Territory and Western Australia governments in roles fostering social change and sustainability across a range of sectors, including the environment, child protection, welfare, and indigenous affairs.

Mr Power has experience in classification, having previously been a member of the Classification Board, which also operates under the Act and is primarily responsible for making classification decisions for films, computer games and certain publications. Mr Power has written interactive online games for the Australian Communications and Media Authority and the Office of the Children's eSafety Commissioner.

The Government would like to thank Ms Margaret Clancy for her service as a Member, whose term expired on 5 December 2022.
