New nets for Newlyn cricketers

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, has today visited the recently completed Newlyn Cricket Nets, made possible by Australian Government funding, through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

The total project cost was $140,000, with LRCI funding contributing $81,766 and the Hepburn Shire Council funding the balance.

"I am delighted to see the new nets completed, just in time for the upcoming cricket season," Ms King said.

"Providing high quality outdoor spaces for children and young people across our region is so important. I know that these nets will be well used by cricketers in Newlyn and surrounds."

The Australian Government has committed over $2 billion in support to local governments through Phases 2 and 3 of the LRCI Program, supporting local jobs and local businesses.
